CRESCENDO:
Warm up
pg. 20 #69 D Major Scale Up: we learned about staccato (detached) and its opposite: legato (connected, smooth); two different styles of playing our D Major Scale.

Review
pg. 21 #73 Buckeye Salute and #76 For Pete's Sake; we learned how to play 1st and 2nd endings
pg. 22 #78 At Pierrot's Door and #79 The Half Counts; we learned how to play half notes and half rests and reviewed our bow circles.

Current
pg. 22 Grandparent's Day and #81 Michael Row the Boat Ashore; we learned that a repeat sign can take us back to a different place in the music besides the beginning, as well as how enter on a different beat other than beat one!

Preview
pg. 22 #82 Texas Two-String; #83 Four By Four; #84 4th Finger Marathon; #85 High Flying; we will learn how to play with 4th finger (violin/viola) and bass will be introduced to new notes A and G in 3rd position!

ANDANTE:

Bk. 1 pg. 28 #105 D Major Scale in Three; review counting in 3/4 time signature; pg. 34 #135 C Major Scale - Round; review low 2s on the D string and the A string; pg. 38 # 161 G Major Scale; review playing low 2s on the A string and E string for violin.

Bk. 1 pg. 28 #106 French Folk Song (bass is introduced to Upper 2nd position to play B); #108 Fit to Be Tied; #109 Stop and Go; #110 Slurring Along; #111 Smooth Sailing; #112 D Major Slurs; review the difference between ties and slurs.

Current
John Ryan's Polka - work on dynamics and start polishing up, it's sounding great!
Three Reels (remember that in the key of G, violins, we have low 2s on A and E strings, but high 2s on the D string!)

Review
Brandenburg Concerto - listen for good intonation (high 3s violin/viola; high 4s cello/bass!) and the Baroque Period style, long eighth notes and detached quarter notes. Work on notes slowly, build up our tempo gradually. Work on dynamics and polishing up, sounds terrific!

Current
All the Pretty Little Horses - continue counting out the rhythms and working on notes
Air on G String - work on slow bows and counting out the rhythms and notes
begin working on vibrato!
